The First Home Owners Grant (FHOG) was introduced by the Australian Government on 1 July 2000 entitling eligible first home buyers to receive a grant in the sum of $7000. A first home buyer may also be entitled to a concession or exemption for stamp duty on the transfer of a property. The FHOG is not means tested to date and you can purchase a property of any value.

You may also be entitled to the FHOG or a concession or exemption for stamp duty if you are constructing your own home or purchasing a new home.

For more information on the FHOG Scheme and exemptions or concessions on stamp duty contact the Office of State Revenue on 1300 130 624 or send an email to first.home.benefits@osr.nsw.gov.au or go to the Office of State Revenue website.
